My friend just got a PhD in statistics and got a job in pharmaceutical research. I'm entry level actuary with a masters in stat, and she's making over double in starting pay. I'm still glad I am where I am, because I love my job though. Do you want to go to school for possibly six more years, or do you want to start now and work your way up? Do consider other factors as well--not just money.
